“The Chinese nuclear submarine 093-417 was caught in a trap intended to capture British and American submarines and suffered a system failure.”
“The oxygen system malfunctioned and may have killed 55 Chinese crew members, including the captain and 21 officers.”
The report published by the Daily Mail states that the incident occurred on August 21 in the Yellow Sea.
British authorities believe hypoxia caused by a faulty system on the submarine caused the deaths.
The submarine reportedly hit a chain and anchor obstacle used by the Chinese navy to trap U.S. and allied submarines.
The incident killed 55 crew members, including 22 officers, seven officer cadets, nine NCOs, and 17 sailors, the report said.

Especially, An unnamed Royal Navy submariner explained.
“If the nuclear submarine was trapped and the submarine’s batteries were discharged. Eventually, the air purifiers and air treatment systems would have failed.”
“They would have failed to maintain the air. Consequently, that would have led to suffocation or poisoning.”
“The Royal Navy has a kit that absorbs carbon dioxide and produces oxygen in these situations. However, Other countries are unlikely to have this kind of technology.”
